JANELLE MONAE'S NOW IN COLOR

Gemstone luxury jewelry with red rubies  and green emeralds  has a leading role in Monae’s “The Electric Lady” music video.  Janelle’s Hollywood glamour jewelry in the video is worthy of a stroll on the Oscar’s Red Carpet.

And what about that red belt with the embellished silver buckle?!

Everything is NOT black and white for the high octave and high octane performer, especially her luxury jewelry.

Bulgari Luxury Jewelry Employment Opportunity For Designers

The other evening I read a report in Women’s World Daily (WWD) that Bulgari, the luxury jewelers has a new training program for newbie jewelry artisans. There wasn’t any contact information in the WWD article but Bulgari has an employment website!!!
Here’s the link--
So if you want to design and craft luxury jewelry for   movie stars, internet billionaires, royalty  and those otherwise ultra wealthy, Bulgari might just give you a chance.

Now here’s a truly bizarre coincidence:  That very same morning I was looking back at a jewelry history book about the golden age of Indian royal jewelry produced for Maharajas during the 16th and 17th century.  I drooled over the pictures of the vast dazzling collection of stupendous jewels housed in the Kuwait National Museum.

A royal palace in India
But my mind began to drift.  I stop thinking so much about the royal wearers of the stunning jewelry.
I began thinking about the workers in the gold mines, the gemstone jewelry designers, the cutters, polishers and other jewelry craftsmen. These workers had a duty to produce all manner of bejeweled items for Indian royalty.
Now, in the 21st century, Bulgari’s luxury jewelry designers and artisans, in some respects, are comparable to India’s 16th and 17th jewelry artisans.

Understated Jewelry Looks Top Style On The Oscars 2013 Red Carpet

Charlize Theron symbolized the understated luxury jewelry styles worn on the Oscars 2013 Red Carpet:  The actress wore unassuming but large Harry Winston diamond stud earrings and multiple diamond bracelets on both arms, Wonder Woman style.

The luxury jewels magnificently showcased her white Dior strapless gown featuring a peplum embellished with crystals.  She didn’t wear a diamond necklace.

Understated and subdued luxury jewelry looks were the predominant jewelry style worn by most Oscar nominees and presenters walking the Red Carpet. Fantasy diamond jewelry and colored gemstone jewels were rare.

The actresses'  evening gowns were the focus not the luxury jewels this year. Hollywood jewelry styles for the Oscar Red Carpet in 2013 seemed to be on minimalist side.

Jennifer Lawrence wore a waist-length diamond necklace switched around to her back to accentuate her strapless Dior white satin embossed gown.

Halle Berry eschewed diamonds altogether and wore simple Onyx teardrop earrings to accessorize her Versace Art Deco style black and silver, sequin stripe, gown.

Kerry Washington was sparkling in a Miu Miu gown with a heavily bejeweled and sequined bodice and red satin skirt. I didn’t see any visible earrings on the E! Channel broadcast but she wore a huge Fred Leighton diamond statement ring.

Sally Fields was the other lady in red, wearing a chiffon ballgown.  She wore simple drop solitaire earrings and carried an evening clutch embellished with huge crystals.

Little 9 year old Quenzhane Wallis walked the Red Carpet in an Elizabethan style ocean blue gown with a straight empire neckline and huge puffy sleeves.

Wallis' hair was adorned with a crystal studded headband. The nominee for the ‘Best Actress’ Oscar also carried a whimsical puppy purse.  Queen Elizabeth I also carried a little puppy when strolling…a live one …snuggled into the huge sleeves of her gown.

GOLDEN GLOBES 2013 RED CARPET | WINNING JEWELRY LOOKS ON STAR ARRIVALS!

I got a real thrill watching the luxury jewelry looks worn by celebrity nominees walking the Red Carpet at the 2013 Golden Globes Awards Ceremony. Here are the Best of the Best couture designer and luxury jewelry styles that I saw:
  1. Kerri Washington star of Quentin Tarantino’s “Django Unchained” sported the best vintage JEWELRY with a diamond and platinum Art Deco Movado wristwatch.  The luxury watch firm has won contemporary fame for producing the ubiquitous "Museum Watch" but don’t forget that Movado’s history goes way back-well over 100 years.
  2. Jessica Chastain of “Zero Dark Thirty” fame flashed the MOST SHOW STOPPING DIAMOND EARRINGS: a pair of rectangular cut diamond drops by luxury jeweler Harry Winston which displayed an incredible light-emitting luminescence clearly visible on the E! Channel’s broadcast of the Red Carpet event. This was not a momentary flash but a constant, highly visible, light-emitting fluorescence from both earrings.
  3. Julianna Hough from “Rock of Ages” sported the ULTIMATE WHIMSICAL JEWELRY LOOK with a crawling beetle and praying mantis on her ear lobes. The handcrafted ear cuffs are truly art jewelry.
  4. Olivia Munn of “The Newsroom” wore the BEST BEADED BEJEWELED GOWN with her strapless Armani design embellished with huge turquoise cabochons.  The gems were horizontally placed to give the effect of a blue-green Native American hair pipe breastplate atop a black skirt.
  5. Taylor Swift gets the NO. 1 SEXY LOOK TROPHY for her amethyst shoulder drop earrings that accessorized her eggplant backless, almost to the crack, gown by designer Donna Karan.
  6. Denzel Washington’s daughter Olivia Washington wins BEST DADDY’S GIRL ACCOLADES. Olivia wore small dark gemstone chandelier earrings to top-off her safe, demure flower print gown that I’m sure daddy approved of.
  7. Zooey Deschanel of “New Girl” gets the ULTIMATE I COULDN’T BE BOTHERED AWARD for matching her stunning red Oscar De La Renta couture designer gown with a boring strand of white South Sea pearls, matching pearl earrings and pearl bracelet.
  8. Sofia Vergara from “Modern Family” gets the YOU KNOW YOU LOVE MY JEWELRY AWARD for her diamond flower earrings and matching diamond floral statement ring by luxury jewelry designer Lorraine Schwartz.  The floral design jewelry was the perfect touch for Vergara’s black sequin, strapless barely there, gown by couture designer Cinco.
  9. Amanda Seyfried wins HAD TO GO BACK TO GET SOME JEWELRY PROPS for wearing a simple gold bar pin with her beige sequined “Old Hollywood Glamour” gown designed with a keyhole neckline.
Congratulations to all the 2013 Golden Globe Red Carpet stars for arriving in  awesome luxury jewelry style!!
